WCF May Tournament

Our last 'home' tournament of the season saw the usual good turnout (well, from us at least; still hoping for more youth epee from other clubs)! A lot of really good fencing. It's clear that everyone has been getting better through the year.

Harrison MacRae was first in Y14, over Nathaniel Green. Dante LaVia and Nicolas Levy were 3d. In Y11, it was Arpad Neale (1st) and Joe Taylor (2d) in the finals. Matthew Ratterman and Oliver Schindler shared 3d. In the Open, Ian Lindblom was 3d.

Emma Maleug wins at UofC

The Uof Chicago fencing club had their maiden tournament, and a few WCF folks went down (even though our own tournament was the next day -- never enough fencing). Our own Emma Maleug won the Womens Open. Nicolas Levy was 5th in the Mixed. Good show!

NAC - F; The Youth NAC

The Youth NAC was held again in Portland, OR -- a beautiful place to go, but far and not with cheap airfares. But 10 Windy City Fencers headed West for the event, and WCF picked up 3 medals: Harrison MacRae, 7th in Y12ME; Harrison Rogers, 7th in Y10ME, and Ellie LaVia, 8th in Y10WE. Other notable finishes included Samantha Perry, 9th in Y12W, and Mason Speta, 9th in Y14WE.

Samantha Perry Goes Gold Twice at Kentucky SYC

Ten WCFs went to Louisville for the Kentucky Super Youth. Sam Perry had a great weekend, taking the Gold in both Y12WE and Y14WE. But she wasn't the only one on fire this weekend. Harrison MacRae won Gold in Y12 mens. And Emma Maleug took Bronze in Y14 womens. Also in the Bronze was Harrison Rogers in Y10 mens.

What a fantastic showing!

Samantha Perry was first in Y12; Mason Speta was first in Y14. Rebecca Rose had a great tournament, medalling in both Y12 (3d) and Y14 (7th). Harrison MacRae medalled (5th) in Y12 as well.

Chicago RYC - A Great Turnout

At the Regional Youth Circuit tournament, WCF usually has most of the epee field, and this year was no exception. Congratulations to the 14 fencers who participated! Joe Taylor was 1st in Y10; Getty Hill 2d. In Y12, Luke Clohisy was first; Arpad Neale 2d. In Y14, Harrison MacRae took 2d.
